Windows ME Setup Instructions

The following instructions are to help guide users of Windows Millennium to connect to the internet using HOTNET.

1. Double Click on MY COMPUTER.
2. Double Click on CONTROL PANEL.
3. Double Click on DIALUP NETWORKING.
4. Double Click on MAKE NEW CONNECTION.
5. Where it asks for a name Type: HOTNET.
6. Click the Button which says CONFIGURE.
7. Change the Maximum speed to 57600 then click OK.
8. Click Next.
9. Area code should be typed as (2) for (02) do not type the ZERO.
10. Type the phone number you were given by HOTNET for your particular Location (0198331246).
11. Make sure that Country Code is set as AUSTRALIA 61.
12. Now Click Next and then Finish.
13. Now use the RIGHT mouse button and Click on HOTNET Icon.
14. Menu box should appear/goto PROPERTIES at the bottom.
15. Take the Tick out of USE AREA CODE AND DIALING PROPERTIES.
16. Click the Tab now which reads NETWORKING.
17. Under ADVANCED OPTIONS only have enable software compression ticked.
18. Under ALLOWED NETWORK PROTOCOLS only have TCP/IP ticked.
19. Click on the Tab which reads TCP/IP SETTINGS.
20. Make sure you have a DOT in server assigned IP ADDRESS.
21. Make sure you have a DOT in server assigned NAME SERVER ADDRESSES.
22. Make sure there is a Tick in USE IP HEADER COMPRESSION.
23. Make sure there is a Tick in USE DEFAULT GATEWAY ON REMOTE.
24. Now Click OK and then OK again and you can now dial for the 1st time.
25. Make sure that Username/Password both typed in LOWER CASE.
